Sri Arasakesari Sivan Temple

History

Sri Arasakesari Sivan Temple traces its roots back to the 1960s, when a group of Hindu workers in the Sungei Kadut industrial area established a simple shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.

As the community grew, the shrine evolved into a proper temple with support from devotees and local businesses. Over the decades, the temple expanded with new structures, shrines, and facilities, eventually becoming one of the most prominent Shiva temples in northern Singapore.

Its location in an industrial zone makes it especially unique — a spiritual sanctuary built by workers seeking divine protection, strength, and blessings in their daily lives.

Significance

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Arasakesari, meaning “the lion among kings” — a powerful form symbolising courage, transformation, and divine grace.
