The first house of parliament in Singapore was the Old Parliament House, which served from 1965 to 1999. It was a neoclassical building that had been in use since the 1950s and was especially prominent after self-government was achieved in 1959. The Old Parliament House was later repurposed as The Arts House, a multidisciplinary arts and heritage venue. The new Parliament House, designed to accommodate the growing number of members, was completed in 1999 and replaced the Old Parliament House.
Old Parliament House (The Arts House) is located near the Civic District at Old Parliament Lane, close to City Hall and the Singapore River.
